2025/09/03 (Wed.) Military Day
Military Day is a commemorative holiday for the Republic of China’s military. In the early days, different military branches had different celebration times, such as Army Day on July 7, Navy Day on September 2, Air Force Day on August 14, Military Police Day on December 12, and Joint Logistics Day on April 1. In 1955 (the 44th year of the Republic of China), the Ministry of National Defense of the Republic of China chose September 3, the anniversary of the victory of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, as the Republic of China’s Military Day in order to unify the holidays of various military branches. All military branches held celebrations on that day. According to the Republic of China’s “Regulations on the Implementation of Memorial Days and Holidays”, Military Day is a holiday as stipulated by the Ministry of National Defense. Military Day is also the day when the Republic of China government holds the Central Autumn Festival. According to convention, the president, the five heads of the five branches of the government and other central government officials personally visit the National Revolutionary Martyrs’ Shrine to express their deepest respects to the many soldiers who died in the shrine and those who have made contributions to the country.
