The Chinese abacus is a traditional Chinese abacus tool. Traditionally, it is made of wood (modern times there are plastic products). A string of equal numbers of beads are arranged in a rectangular wooden frame, which is called a frame. There is a horizontal beam in the middle that separates the beads into two parts, each bead in the upper half represents 5, and each bead in the lower half represents 1. There are positioning points (also called individual points) on the beam. The Chinese abacus is also the ancestor of various East Asian abacus.
