This department aims to train students in the four basic language abilities of listening, speaking, reading, and writing and to enable them to pursue careers in business, language teaching, and reception. Its excellent faculty includes many associate professors and assistant professors. Fifteen multi-media language labs, an oral-interpretation lab, a self-access center, and a wide variety of language learning and testing software programs provide an optimum environment for student learning.
English conversation, writing, and translation courses utilize small-class instruction; most English conversation and writing courses are taught by native English-speaking teachers.
The program assists students to prepare for a variety of English proficiency tests. In addition to standardized English proficiency tests, it assists students to be familiar with and to take certification exams in international English teaching, international trade, conference exhibition, foreign language tour guide, web design, and a variety of computer licenses.
Elite students are specially trained in vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and writing. Students often obtain honors scholarships from school to study abroad for dual degrees. The employment rate for the first and second graduating classes is 81%. In the 2005 academic year this department was evaluated as Grade 1, the best of three levels, by the Ministry of Education.
