The 2026 AFA World Culinary Competition kicked off on November 3 at the OSCO International Exhibition Center in Cheongju, South Korea. Co-hosted by the Asia Food Association (AFA), the Korea Federation of Micro Enterprise Owners (KFME), and the South Korean media outlet CBSI, the event brought together culinary professionals from 11 countries and regions—including Thailand, Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, China, the Philippines, Vietnam, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and South Korea—to showcase their expertise and innovative capacity on an international stage.
The competition featured a diverse range of categories, spanning baking, culinary displays, live cooking, beverage preparation, fruit and vegetable carving, as well as manual coffee brewing and latte art. The AFA World Culinary Competition serves not only as a vital platform for culinary professionals to demonstrate their technical skills and creativity, but also as a key venue for fostering cultural exchange, sharing professional expertise, and promoting industry collaboration across Asia.
President Huang Rong-peng noted that participating in international competitions allows students to observe and learn from culinary elites from various countries. This engagement strengthens international connections and cooperation within the field, while enhancing the ability of JUST students to integrate into the global arena.
Hu Yi-chen, Dean of the College of Tourism and Hospitality, stated that competing in international culinary events helps students refine their professional skills. By engaging with international peers, students are motivated to further develop their craft, while simultaneously boosting their international visibility and communication abilities.
Ultimately, these efforts foster innovation in culinary techniques and the preservation of culinary heritage, while injecting fresh momentum into deepening cooperation within the Asian food and beverage industry and promoting international culinary cultural exchange. Award Winners:
