Supporting New Taipei City with the Spirit of "Yi" (Righteousness)! New Taipei’s Hakka Yimin Festival: Honoring Tradition with a Fresh Twist. (2026/10/11)

The 2026 New Taipei City Hakka Yimin Festival, themed "Supporting New Taipei with the Spirit of 'Yi'," was held with great fanfare at the Civic Plaza. The highlight of the event—a creative parade featuring participants carrying baskets of offerings—symbolized the passing down of the "Yimin spirit" (the spirit of righteousness and loyalty) from one generation to the next. For the first time, the event brought together various mascots from the city government, while youth groups—including students from JUST—contributed high-energy dance performances and imaginative costumes, infusing the festival with youthful vitality. Mayor Hou Yu-ih served as the principal officiant for the "Three Offerings" ritual and emphasized the city government’s ongoing commitment to expanding Hakka cultural venues, aiming to further strengthen community cohesion.
