Typhoon Surigae is expected to form as early as today or tomorrow (the 23th–24th). Its intensity is projected to reach at least "moderate typhoon" status, with the potential to escalate into a "strong typhoon." Current path forecasts diverge into two main scenarios: a turn northward toward the waters off the Ryukyu Islands (considered more likely) versus a scenario where the high-pressure system fails to weaken, driving the storm to make landfall in Hualien/Taitung or pass through the Bashi Channel. This Saturday (the 26th) will be a critical time for observing the storm's trajectory.

The timeline for weather impacts is as follows:

Mid-Autumn Festival Long Weekend (Sept. 25–27): Stable weather due to high-pressure influence; skies across Taiwan will be partly cloudy to sunny, with isolated afternoon showers in mountainous areas and the south. Conditions will be favorable for moon-viewing across the island.

Starting Next Monday (Sept. 28): As the typhoon moves into the waters east of Taiwan, its outer circulation will bring rain to areas north of Taoyuan, the Greater Taipei area, and the eastern region.

Next Tuesday through Thursday (Sept. 29–Oct. 1): The typhoon will be at its closest point to Taiwan; the actual severity of wind and rain will depend on its final proximity to the island.
