September 1 (Tue.), in 2026, is Journalists' Day in the Republic of China (also known as "September 1st Journalists' Day"). This is a day to thank journalists, recognize the media's contributions to society, and defend press freedom. It originated from a historical event in 1933 when the Executive Yuan issued an order to protect journalists. It was proposed by the Hangzhou Journalists Association and was officially designated as Journalists' Day in 1943. Every year, people from all walks of life pay tribute to journalists.
