2025/08/07 (Thu.) Beginning of Autumn
The Beginning of Autumn is one of the 24 solar terms, which falls between August 7 and 9 every year, when the Big Dipper points to Kun and the Sun is at 135° of the ecliptic longitude. Beginning of Autumn is the thirteenth solar term among the twenty-four solar terms. The beginning of autumn occurs when the sun reaches 135 degrees of ecliptic longitude on August 7 or 8 every year. "Collected Explanations of the 72 Seasonal Changes" states: "The seventh month is the day when the word 'begin' means spring. 'autumn' means to pull, and things are gathered at this time." The Beginning of Autumn usually indicates that the hot summer is about to pass and autumn is about to come.
