September 9 (Wed.), in 2026, is Taiwan's National Sports Day, a statutory holiday where the government and private sector hold events. Starting in 2025, September 9th will also be officially designated as the anniversary of the establishment of the Ministry of Sports, coinciding with the Double Ninth Festival, symbolizing the promotion of national fitness and the improvement of the physical and mental health of the people. On this day, there are usually free access to sports facilities, fitness testing activities, and sports stars as ambassadors to encourage everyone to exercise. In 2026, there will also be numerous sporting events (such as the Asian Beach Games) and exhibitions (TaiSPO) to celebrate these sporting events.
