JUST's Department of Travel Management Soars to New Heights! Immersive Experience "From Fine Dining to the Cockpit"—Practicing Cross-Disciplinary Innovative Education
(Reported by this newspaper) To promote the perfect integration of theory and practice, the Department of Travel Management at JUST recently successfully held a unique "Teacher Workshop on Aviation Catering Service and Flight Piloting Experience: An Immersive Experience from Fine Dining to the Cockpit." The event venue resembled a miniature international airport, from the welcoming cocktail party in the in-flight lounge to piloting flight simulators, allowing teachers from ten participating high schools to experience a comprehensive journey from the ground to the clouds, fully demonstrating the department's leap forward in innovative teaching.
President Huang Rongpeng stated that this event perfectly aligns with the university's philosophy of "teacher-centered, industry-connected, and internationally aligned." He emphasized, "Education should not be confined to textbooks, but rather a process of exploration full of surprises. Today's activities by the Tourism Department are a prime example of extending the classroom to the world stage. We aim to cultivate future leaders with a global perspective, practical skills, and innovative thinking, not just followers. Seeing our faculty and students personally plan such a professional, international-level experience fills me with confidence in the competitiveness of our students." In his address, Tourism Department Head Chen Hsin-fu further elaborated on the professional content of the event. He pointed out that the definition of 'tourism' is rapidly expanding, extending from destination sightseeing to in-depth experiences throughout the entire journey. This faculty workshop, meticulously designed with 'Luxury Airline Meals,' 'First-Class Service Demonstration,' 'Flight Simulator Experience,' and 'World Clothing Experience,' aims to help faculty deeply understand the core operations of the aviation industry, a crucial link in tourism. We aim to cultivate professionals capable of designing and managing top-tier tourism experiences. The event commenced in an atmosphere of anticipation.
Ms. Chang Shih-min, a teacher from Taoyuan Yu-Da High School who participated in the workshop, shared, "From cocktail mixing and food presentation to flight simulation, every aspect was a high-standard practical demonstration, truly eye-opening! This event was not only a workshop but also a feast of teaching inspiration, injecting abundant innovative nutrients into our future curriculum design." The workshop featured a rich and diverse program, including an in-flight lounge welcome cocktail party, a boutique airline dining experience, a guided tour of a wine tasting classroom, a first-class service demonstration, and a flight simulator piloting experience. The interactive sessions were lively, allowing teachers to gain a deeper understanding of the practical aspects of aviation services and tourism management through hands-on experience.
The event concluded successfully with the elegant aromas of "French Personalized Perfume Making" and a joyful lucky draw. All participating teachers expressed that this event was not only an unforgettable sensory feast but also a highly inspiring professional course, personally practicing the educational truth of "learning by doing" and writing a new chapter in tourism management education.
